BUW Living Library
07 11 2025
On Saturday, November 15th, the Living Library Warsaw event, organized by the RUBIN Foundation, will take place at the University of Warsaw Library (BUW) at Dobra Street 56/66.
The Living Library operates just like a regular library. Readers can come and learn about the story of a chosen Living Book. In this Library, the books are real people representing minorities and social groups that are not fully accepted, facing prejudice and marginalization.
Among the available Living Books are:
- ex-wife of a gay man
- adult child of divorced parents
- woman who is consciously childless
- a muslim woman
- transgender person
- person on the autism spectrum
- person with intellectual disabilities
- person with bipolar disorder
- social worker
By borrowing a Living Book, the reader enters into a dialogue with it. Both parties have the opportunity to confront their perceptions with reality. Readers can experience reality from the perspective of those exposed to discrimination and exclusion, and Books can tell their own stories.
The Living Library features people you don’t meet every day and topics that rarely come up in conversation.
The Living Library is an emotionally charged encounter with another person and true personal stories that have the incredible power to change minds, dispel stereotypes, and move people deeply.
The Equality Team encourages you to participate in the event!
