June 2024 – Pride Month at University of Warsaw
05 06 2024
June is celebrated as Pride Month – visibility and support for LGBT+ people
The choice of date is not accidental because it commemorates the events at the Stonewall Bar in New York, where in June 1969 there were riots between LGBT+ people and the police, who once again organized a raid to persecute the community. Stonewall has become a symbol of the fight for rights – equality, respect, safety, tolerance and acceptance.
At the University of Warsaw, we respect equality and diversity. We want everyone to feel safe and at home here.
We are pleased to inform you that work on the so-called overlay, i.e. functionality for trans students and doctoral candidates in the USOS and APD systems, has been completed and the documents needed to launch it are currently being prepared.
This month, many events are organized at the University of Warsaw – by scientific clubs, student unions and others – discussions, lectures and meetings.
On June 7, the Faculty of Psychology of the University of Warsaw will host a conference dedicated to the memory of Miki Wesołowska, a doctoral student in psychology who passed away in April this year. LGBT+ community issues were particularly close to her and the conference will be devoted to this topic.
On June 15, the University of Warsaw Student Union invites you to go to the Equality Parade. LINK to the event
The Student Union of the Faculty of Sociology is organizing Queerowa 18 – a month-long celebration at Karowa 18 – a fair, a box of kindness, stickers, parties and a joint trip to the Equality Parade. LINK to events
