30 10 2025
The evaluation of the Gender Equality Plan (GEP), implemented at the University of Warsaw from 2020 to 2025, has been completed. This document constitutes a comprehensive action plan for equality, diversity, and counteracting discrimination in the academic community.
A number of initiatives were implemented as part of the Plan, including:
- the development of a system of online training and courses on equality and counteracting discrimination,
- appointment of Equality Plenipotentiaries at faculties and units,
- implementation of new anti-discrimination procedures,
- initiatives to develop women’s academic careers were undertaken, including through the University of Warsaw’s network of doctoral students and mentoring programs,
- implementation of solutions to facilitate the balance of work and family life,
- increased representation of women in university decision-making bodies.
The evaluation revealed significant progress in building a culture of equality, developing institutional structures, and raising awareness among the academic community. Recommendations were also formulated regarding the need to strengthen equality policies, academic-life balance, and support women in science.
