The “16 days” campaign – 5D training with Feminoteka and presentation of the SafeYou app
28 11 2025
Today, on 28 November, the University is hosting an open training on “How to respond to sexual harassment in public spaces?“, co-organised with the Feminoteka Foundation, (more information here).
For this reason, we would like to introduce the 5D method – a practical model for responding to violence and harassment, described in the training.
The 5D method (Distract, Delegate, Document, Delay, and Direct) was developed by the American organisation Right To Be and is now used worldwide. It offers concrete, safe strategies to support the person experiencing violence, especially in situations where directly confronting the perpetrator may be risky. You can find out more about the method on the Feminoteka website.
The topic of sexual harassment remains an extremely important issue, as it affects almost everyone, while the level of public awareness still needs a lot of work.
77% of women in Poland declare that they have experienced harassment in public places and 82% said that the experience of sexual behaviour in public spaces has a significant impact on their lives [1].
During the event, the SafeYou phone application was also presented – a free mobile tool operating in many countries around the world and implemented in Poland by Feminoteka Foundation. SafeYou combines the functions of an SOS signal, access to information resources and the ability to quickly contact a loved one or support network. It aims to increase safety and is an example of how technology can support prevention. More information about the app can be found here.
